Giving to People Who Give!

From a Friend on Facebook Today!

I'm in tears. This was awesome. More people need to do this daily. Shelly Hargis, add this to your blog. This shows there are people out there that care about helping the homeless. Plus it shows how strong the ignorance is towards those that are homeless and asking for help. Like the guy who just assumed this 'homeless looking guy' needs to just get a job. Why didn't this man stop and ask what his skill set was and offer him a job at his place of business? maybe the homeless man has a silent/invisible disability that forbids him from gainful employment? So many other questions I could list. Too many people 'judge by the book cover'. I likely did this from time to time as well and hate myself for doing this and try to not do this. Yet, in this busy hustle bustling world today it's hard to stop and just put yourself into their position if you have never been there yourself so that you could better understand the possible reasons that put them there. Bad enough that I know I will likely experience being homeless one more time(I've had a few short experiences of being homeless and living in group shelters.). I want to move to Florida. Sure, I have family and a few friends there, but I don't want to impose upon them my presence in their home for long period of time if they were to offer a couch to crash on. Perhaps they won't, therefore, I would need a shelter. I will have to find a storage rental place for my uhaul belongings I take with me and then sleep in shelters till I can secure housing. My FBF Shelly is homeless and has swallowed her pride and is creating homeless awareness online, here at facebook. She doesn't have a supportive family unit. They have turned their back on her. (Maybe not all of them, but most). This happens because of the peoples ignorance about the homeless. This happens because they are not compassionate caring individuals. Or they have this idealism that helping the homeless person only keeps them homeless and lazy? Or perhaps they feel that their relative is 'taking advantage of their own generosity? We never know what reasons, regardless of how disturbingly idiotic they may be, cause relatives to say NO or Yes to a homeless relative. I have found out over these last few years that it is the NON -Relatives that are more supportive towards a homeless friend than is a relative towards a relative. This is why I have decided that I will not try to impose on my relatives or floridian 'friends' the burden of bunking me when I ever decide to make a move south. For all I know. I may be lucky and secure housing before I even spend a permanent day 1 in Florida.
