We were served a Court Order eviction around the beginning of June, of this year, 2014. Our Court date was for July 1st, 2014 and we knew that they would most likely only give us a few days to leave the premises after that. We decided to have a Yard Sale to try to sell as much as we could, so that we would not have to leave anything behind. I had mentioned to a Friend on Facebook what we were going through and she decided to start a Fundraiser on facebook to try to save our home. She invited over 1000 people, but only a handful joined, but they did help us out as much as they could. It helped with gas, food and we were able to pay for the yard sale signs, but did not have enough to put an ad in the paper. We worked hard that whole weekend, but only sold a few items. We had no way to store or haul off anything, other then one truckfull of furniture and items that we donated to a friend for them to sell in their own garage sale. They did let us store some things in their garage, but everything else stayed behind. We tried to give things away, and managed to get rid of a few items, but did not have much luck there either.
The last week we were there, My daughter received a Frantic Phone call from her boyfriend, Joey. He was in Hysterics. He had just found his Mom dead in his apartment. She had some health problems with her heart. We rushed to the next town, where he lived, Praying that we would not run out of gas, and we made it. He was so upset, understandibly. My daughter decided to move in with Joey and help him with everything through this time. So she and our grandsons started staying there with Joey.
Our electric got shut off. We had a few candles and my friend let us borrow a battery powered lamp, so that helped with light. It was hot and muggy and at times, we had no food. It was miserable. We were still in shock that this was Really Happening. We were scared, not knowing where we would stay. We contacted Every shelter and Program that we could think of, but since we had no small children, no one would take us in.
During the past Year and a half, Our Son had been dealing with emotional issues. Since he was little, he had always struggled with Learning challenges and Depression, but through the years, he developed social anxiety, and panic disorders and struggled daily with them. He was close to his Grandparents and they were Loving and Good, Christian People who loved their Grandchildren very much. My son started reading the Bible and started going to their church where his grandparents had been members for years. After the loss of both of his Grandparents, especially after we were staying with his Grandmother and taking care of her, when she passed away, My son became worse. He started believing that he was getting Symptoms of MS. He also started believing that he was not doing what God wanted him to do, and that God was telling him that he was worthless and that he was going to kill him and torment him because he was not obeying God. He started talking to (God) and belived that God was constantly tormenting him. He would Cry all of the time and Talk to himself. He would be scared at times, Frustrated and Angry at God. We were all dealing with this Every Day, All Day and into the early morning hours until he would finally fall asleep from exhaustion, the same time that we were going through this eviction. It was Heartbreaking to watch our son suffering like this. We did not know how to help him. How do you stop "God" from tormenting someone!? It was Truly Torment for all of us.
Our son became so Depressed that he finally broke down. He started flipping out and my husband was frustrated and started yelling at him to calm down. Our son got so upset, that he hauled off and hit my husband in the side of his head. We were in shock that he did that. He was completely losing it. That is not like him to do that. He has had anger issues in the past and had been known to lose it like that before, but had not done that in years. He started going to church and did a complete turn around for awhile up until All of this started when his grandparents passed. He always had a conscience and a good heart. Both of our children do. We had no choice but to call the police. They were here before. We had called them a few weeks before when Shane was havine a serious "Episode" and we knew that he desperately needed some mental health help. We explained to the police what has been going on with Shane and that we wanted them to hospitalise him so he could get evaluated. We were hoping that they would do the works, like MRI's and similar tests like that, but they ended up just setting him up for counseling and to see his regular Psychiatrist. They kept him for 3 days and did nothing really. This time, although the police agreed that he did need some mental help, they pressed domestic violence charges on him and arrested our son. What he did was wrong and we do know that, and he did need to face some consequences for his actions, but the mental state that he was in, We was concerned about him being locked up in jail. If he could handle that mentally. We made sure that they would have someone come in and see him from where he sees his Psychologist. They did. He was locked up for about 3 weeks during the time we were moving out and staying in a motel. I Cried and Cried until there were almost no more tears left in me. We could not set up visitation with him. He was supposed to fill out the paperwork two days before the visitation so we could come see him, but he did not know that and has a hard time understanding all of that stuff. He was not used to how all of this worked and neither was we. I was finally able to talk to a deputy and explained to her that he probably does not know to fill out the paperwork and finally he did and after about a week, I was finally able to see my son. He was upset and wanted to come home, but all I could do was to tell him that we had to wait until the pre-trial in a couple more weeks.I let him know that we loved him very much and that he would be out soon. I was able to visit him a few more times during that time that he spent in jail, and finally he was released but not to come "Home". Only to a small Motel room with nothing much in it at all.
To back up a little, The day of court finally came. We were so nervous and scared. We did not know if the judge would give us a day or 10 days or what? The Judge was nice, but, of course had to make us leave the premises by law. He gave us a week and the landlords lawyer was Ok with that. They scheduled another court date for us to come back to settle on back rent owed and damages, if any, so we had to come back in about a month. We was relieved to get Court over, but knew we had to come back, so not much of a sigh of relief.
We hussled and bussled through every room and every drawer and every closet and shelf, cracks and crevices, to make sure that we packed only the sentimental and needed items to take with us. We made sure that we got everything for our son that we thought he would want to keep, since he was in jail at this time. My car was still sitting on the driveway, broke down and we had no one to help to haul the car anywhere and no money to fix it. We were still in need of gas and food, so we talked with the neighbors, and as much as we hated to do it, we agreed to sell them my car at junk price. $200.00 to move with and live on. In the meantime, I was keeping my Facebook Friends posted on our situation, and We took my sons SSI check that gets direct deposited every month on the 1st, and paid on the car loan and a couple of bills that we had to pay, bought some food and needs and paid for a week at a Motel so that we could atleast have somewhere to shower and sleep and have electric for a liitle bit. We had no clue where we was going to go after the week was up.
I continued to keep my Facebook Friends updated on our situation. Time was almost up at the motel and God Bless my Friends, they came through for us! Someone paid for another week at the motel and for the next few weeks, our Friends kept us going at the motel! My husband got a part time job cleaning commercial Buildings during this time, but then our brakes went out, after just a few days, and we was not able to afford or find someone to fix them at first, so he had to let his job go. He put his applications in several places around the motel and here in town, but nothing happened. Then we were able to get the brakes fixed, thanks to friends Once again! As soon as we had the brakes fixed, my husband called his last job back and told them the brakes were fixed and asked if they would consider hiring him back, and two days later, they called him back in to work! We was so Excited and Relieved. He has been there for about a month now, but has had to miss a few days, once again, because the water pump went out in the car. We are now making arrangements to get that fixed on Friday, Sept. 5th, when my husband gets his paycheck. We was going to pay for a week at the motel, but we have no choice but to keep the car running so that My husband can keep his job. We are doing our best to get ahead, so that we can start saving up for a home again, but it seems that car issues and other bills keep getting in the way, We will continue to fight. If it were not For our Facebook Friends and our faith in God, we would not have made it this far. We had No One to help us. Our Families, either did not care, or were not able to help us and the same with our personal friends. God and Our facebook Friends have been a True Blessing and we are So Grateful to each and Every one of them! :)
